Part 1
Part 1 | Part 3 |
|---|---|---|
«Yes, I think so» — это верный способ потерять баллы.

1: «Do you think technology has changed the way people communicate?»
«Absolutely, and I’d say the changes have been quite profound. The main reason is that platforms like messaging apps and social media have made it possible to stay in touch with people across the world instantly and at no cost. Take video calls, for example — a generation ago, speaking face-to-face with someone on another continent would have been extraordinary. Now it’s completely routine.
Admittedly, some people argue that technology has made communication more superficial — we send emojis rather than having meaningful conversations. There’s some truth in that. However, I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Overall, technology hasn’t replaced deep communication — it’s simply added more ways to connect.»
2: «Should governments invest more in public transport?»
«I would strongly argue that yes, they should — and for several reasons. First, public transport significantly reduces traffic congestion and air pollution in cities. If more people use buses and trains, there are fewer cars on the road, which benefits everyone, including those who still drive.
A good example of this would be cities like Tokyo or Amsterdam, where excellent public transport systems mean that car ownership is relatively low despite high population density. Of course, building and maintaining public transport is expensive. But when you consider the long-term economic and environmental benefits, it’s a worthwhile investment. So, on balance, I think governments should make this a priority.»
3: «Do you think young people today have different values from previous generations?»
«That’s quite a complex question, but I’d say yes — in some ways, quite significantly. I think younger generations tend to place more emphasis on personal fulfilment and work-life balance, whereas previous generations often prioritised job security and financial stability above all else.
This can be seen in the way many young people today are willing to change careers multiple times or work freelance rather than committing to a single employer for life. The rise of the gig economy reflects this shift. Having said that, I don’t think the differences are as dramatic as some people suggest. Core values — like honesty, family, and ambition — remain fairly consistent across generations. It’s more about priorities than fundamental differences.»

«I think this depends on the person. For older people… whereas younger generations tend to…»
«In some countries, such as… this is quite common. However, in others…» -
«On one hand… On the other hand… So it’s not a straightforward issue.»
Part 3
